Paint the Forest - Plein Air Event

Exhibition Open Now

Experience the second annual Paint the Forest plein air showcase in beautiful, historic Wake Forest, North Carolina—now on view at The Makery through January 22nd.

Co-hosted by the Wake Forest Guild of Artists and The Makery, this exhibition celebrates the charm and character of our town—just 20 miles north of Raleigh.

Wake Forest has a rich story to tell. Once the original home of Wake Forest University for more than a century, the town is now a vibrant community of more than 50,000 residents. Founded in the early 1800s as the “Forest of Wake,” its history lives on in landmarks like the Wake Forest Historical Museum, the town’s oldest building dating back to 1821.

This year’s exhibiting artists found endless inspiration—from antebellum homes and historic downtown streetscapes to lush parks and tree-lined landscapes. Wake Forest is truly a paradise of subjects, and their work beautifully captures the spirit of our community.

All works of art in the exhibition are available for purchase, and a portion of the proceeds will directly support the Wake Forest Boys & Girls Club’s art program.

Visit The Makery, explore the show, and take home a piece of Wake Forest while supporting young artists in our community.

Remix - A Y2K Art Exhibition

Artist Call

Remember when your AIM away message said “brb, making art”? Or when your burned mix CD skipped just as Hollaback Girl came on? Mood check: Millennium.

We’re looking for artwork that screams early 2000s—think boy bands, Hot Topic angst, mall culture, Juicy tracksuits, frosted tips, glitter graphics, and all the glorious chaos of Y2K. This show is basically your MySpace profile come to life.
